Sue Ford is a gifted and experienced artist and established art teacher. Sue has experimented with just about every possible medium in her development as an artist, and is equally at home with watercolour, pastel or mixed media. Sue’s artistic abilities were evident from a very early age.
WIDE RANGE OF PAINTING SUBJECTS
Sue revels in a widely varied range of subjects; capturing the unique atmosphere of the small coastal fishing villages in her home county, to the extraordinary beauty of the island of Menorca, where Sue teaches some of her Art Holidays. As a fully-qualified Further Education Art Teacher, Sue Ford demonstrates and teaches weekly in adult education classes and during a series of popular weekend workshops and residential holidays. Sue now lives in North Yorkshire, but her recent work includes paintings from foreign travels to Corsica, Tuscany, Sardinia and Menorca.
Sue’s art is exhibited widely through local and national exhibitions and galleries, and also at The Royal Society of Marine Artists (RSMA) and the Society of Women Artists in Mall Galleries, London. Sue is a professional member of the Society of All Artists (SAA). She always tries to make herself available for painting and drawing demonstrations, art workshops and painting commissions. With her natural flair and ability to draw, Sue can demonstrate a tremendous variety of subjects and delights in showing her students new and different painting techniques. Due to her expertise with so many media, Sue can explain the creative use of different materials, the importance of composition and getting the best from photos and sketches. Sue’s overriding objective is to encourage students to achieve their own goals and to develop their creative ideas.
During her painting holidays, Sue’s aim is to ensure that all her students benefit – regardless of their experience. The idea is to create a solid foundation of artistic techniques whilst developing their own style in a relaxed and comfortable learning environment.
During each day of these art holidays Sue guides every student gently through each of the painting stages; often with an initial demonstration to get everyone started and to build confidence. These painting demonstrations are followed by patient, professional tuition throughout the holiday so that all paintings created by each student will inspire them to move forward with confidence in their own artistic direction.
