MIXED MEDIA COURSE at the Red Lea Hotel, 3 star AAA Prince of Wales Terrace, Scarborough, situated in South Bay, very close to the cliff lift for the Spa Pavilion and beach.

2 mixed media courses at the Red Lea Hotel, a beautifully furnished hotel and facilities. We have the use of a designated studio in the Rowntree Suite, Price includes en-suite accommodation, with TV and coffee making facilities, breakfast and evening meals. The hotel has a gym, large, dining room, lounges, bar, indoor swimming pool with a Jacuzzi. Ample parking and free Parking discs available.
Also DAY students please contact the hotel to book, there’s a charge of £100 for the week plus my tuition fee of £75 for the week. Total for week £175

Itinerary for Red Lea January Holiday with Sue Ford
Dear All, looking forward to seeing you at the Red Lea Hotel, 4 days of painting fun.
Please arrive Sunday afternoon; bedrooms are usually ready after 2-3 pm.
Reception will give you a parking disc for the week. (Free),

Opening demo of skier in the snow (watercolour)
Monday – exercise in watercolour Red Squirrel
Tuesday – seascape in acrylic
Wednesday – collage/acrylic of lady with flowers
Thursday – flowers using watercolour and pastel
You will require for the watercolour exercises quarter imperial paper, 300 lb, 600 gms, I will have watercolour paper and pastel paper for sale.
Day one watercolour paints, tubes or pans are ok, drawing board, water pot, 2b pencil, putty eraser, pencil and drawing boards to accommodate paper size.
Days 2 acrylic seascape, you’ll require a canvas roughly 18 x 20 ins, canvas board or acrylic paper are ok. Acrylic paints, plus a larger tube of System 3 white acrylic. Brushes, kitchen towels and easel
Day 3, Collage of a lady with flowers, please bring a board or canvas 18 x 20 ins or larger
Lots of magazines, some with flowers inside, PVA glue. Embellishments – using old jewels/gems and glitter and gold acrylic paint and acrylic and brushes. Please use a good quality Titanium white, ie system 3 (not mixing white).
Day 4, Pastel flowers in watercolour and pastel, bring smooth paper (hot pressed) or thick cartridge paper. Soft pastels, watercolours, brushes, please use an easel to do this exercise. If students prefer they can use just pastels.
If you prefer to do your own work during the week, or dip in on some exercises, that’s fine. Bring your own reference pictures.
I will have pastel paper and watercolour paper for sale, the course fee does not include materials, however if students wish me to bring a drawing board or easel? Please let me know beforehand.
Other items to bring – swimwear, iPad, baby wipes. Sharpie black pens, cloth for table, iPad (not essential)
